Togo: Thompson Inspires Youth at Non-Violence Symposium

Updated: Dec 7, 2025

On May 8, 2025, Nicholas Marcus Thompson addressed five hundred young people in Lomé, Togo, at the Symposium on Non-Violence.

Speaking on African soil, Thompson encouraged the young audience by telling them, “I see future presidents and leaders in this room.” His message emphasized that leadership begins with purpose, courage, and a commitment to justice, not merely with titles or positions.

Thompson shared insights from his work leading the Black Class Action, highlighting how non-violent action, strategic advocacy, and collective strength can confront systemic injustice and transform institutions. He underscored that non-violence is not passive but a disciplined and powerful force for change when grounded in truth.

The young participants demonstrated a deep sense of responsibility, asking thoughtful questions and expressing bold visions for their communities and country. Their engagement reaffirmed Thompson’s belief that the future of global justice efforts depends on empowered and informed youth across Africa and the diaspora.
